The TRILLVISION Film Festival Closing Ceremony, hosted by Q-Nice, celebrated the creativity and dedication of the festival’s talented filmmakers. Audience awards were presented in recognition of outstanding achievements, followed by closing remarks from the Festival Director (Velo Stewart).
This dynamic panel explored the intersection of Hip Hop culture and filmmaking, focusing on what it takes to create authentic Hip Hop films that resonate with both fans and critics. Moderator Carmen Wilson led panelists Nicki Mayo, Talisha Dunn-Square, and Timothy Conley in breaking down how to reach the heart of the Hip Hop audience, define a powerful narrative, and avoid clichés that can dilute its impact.
The panel, featuring industry filmmakers, music supervisors, and music coordinators, broke down the journey of how a song ends up in a film or show. Panelists Jabari Ali, Dedan Gills, and Maronda “Lyric” T’pring discussed how directors choose the perfect tracks, how composers are selected, and the emotional and narrative weight music carries on screen.
